Gracie Cedres is UPrep's 7th grade Math Teacher. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Childhood Education from Lehman College and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Penn State.
With over two decades of education experience, Gracie's journey has encompassed diverse roles in human services, including Teacher Assistant, Teacher, Middle and High School Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, and Director. During her teaching tenure, she facilitated mathematics for 3 years, also spearheading math competitions that invigorated students' confidence and achievements. Gracie’s approach emphasizes creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels empowered to explore the world of math, while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Beyond the classroom, Gracie is a philanthropist at heart whose values are rooted in family and faith. You can find Gracie with family and friends, at the movies, traveling, or organizing community events. With a profound commitment to service, Gracie's dedication to supporting individuals and families in her hometown has fueled her aspiration to establish a nonprofit organization that currently serves youth, adults, and senior citizens in low-income, poverty-stricken communities.
Carlos Tenreiro-Braschi, Grade 8 Math Teacher
Grade 8 Math Teacher
Carlos Tenreiro-Braschi is UPrep's 8th grade Math Teacher. He was a Teach for America Corps Member.
Born and raised in New York City, Carlos’ early academic career inspired a love for STEM and a propensity for collaboration. Carlos engaged in various scientific research projects, compete with the speech and debate team, and volunteer at local schools as an assistant teacher. Outside of the classroom, he would play bass guitar, fence, and explore the city with friends.
He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. At college, he served as the event coordinator for the WJHU Radio Club and the brotherhood chair of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, while also working as an engineering design consultant and a student building manager for the school.
Carlos is committed to learning alongside his students as he works towards becoming a more mindful and effective educator.

Benjamin Matos is UPrep's 8th grade Math Teacher. As a youth, he was an attendee of StreetSquash Harlem for many years. He continued to be a StreetSquash volunteer and through this expereince realized his passion to become a teacher. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from CUNY Hunter College. While doing so, he was working as a group leader with the Boys & Girls club and later at Brooklyn Arbor. In these roles, he facilitated multiple STEM, art, literacy and SEL activities. When he is not working, you can find him reading Manga, watching horror movies and gaming on a variety of consoles.
Jennifer Britton, Grades 5 & 8 Math Learning Specialist
Grades 5 & 8 Math Learning Specialist
Jennifer is UPrep's Math Learning Specialist for 5th and 8th grade. She was born in Brooklyn, but raised in Colorado. Jennifer attended Syracuse University for her undergraduate studies, majoring in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education. In 2018, she earned her Masters degree in Instructional Technology from Touro College. She previously taught 9 years at P.S. 136 in Queens where she worked with students from 1st through 5th grade. Jennifer also served as the school programmer, a first-year teacher mentor, and the after school cheerleading coach.
When not in the classroom, Jennifer loves to spend time with her family and friends. She loves to bake (especially desserts!) and is an avid traveler (#CruiseLife). You can also catch her in the Zumba studio several times a week!
Jennifer is proud to be part of the Gator family and excited to collborate with students, families, and staff members!
Reese Rosales, Grades 6 & 7 Math Learning Specialist
Grade 6 & 7 Math Learning Specialist
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Reese attended Rice University where he majored in Sport Management and minored in Business. At Rice, Reese was on the President’s Honor Roll and was a varsity member of the crew team. During his four years, he gained experience through internships with Nike, Roc Nation Sports, Houston Rockets, Men’s Final Four, and The Super Bowl.
Prior to his teaching career, Reese worked as a consultant in energy technology, where he served as a Recruiting Lead, designing and implementing a DEI-focused strategy to engage with students from underrepresented backgrounds. Later, Reese joined a sports technology startup, where he designed and delivered software that analyzed athletic movement, with the mission to empower every athlete and coach, regardless of budget, to reach their full potential.
Reese loves to inspire a love of math and spark curiosity in all students. Reese is passionate about closing the opportunity gap in education, urban design, and visual and dramatic art. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling, sports, museums, reading, and cycling.

Joellie Rodriguez, an alumna of University Prep Charter High School graduating class of 2019 is UPrep's Math Teaching Assistant for the 5th & 6th grade. She was born and raised in the Bronx, lived in Houston for a brief time. Joellie was a former special education student (1st-11th grade), but was able to get declassified from her IEP. After graduating UPrep High, she attended JohnJay College of Criminal Justice to study forensic psychology, later realizing that wasn’t her true passion. The wonderful special education teachers at UPrep High inspired her to want to pursue a career in teaching, specifically special education.
Joellie enjoys traveling, going out with friends and family, and cooking. She is comitted to inspire students and fullysupport thier success in every possible way!

Emely de la Iglesia is UPrep's 7th & 8th grade Math Teaching Assistant. She resides in the South Bronx and attended & graduated from another Charter School Network & went on to attend Hunter College for an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a minor in History. Emely has a background in the food industry where she was moved into a mangerial role, certified by DOH with a food handlers license. She previously worked in a private psychiatry clinic as a receptionist.
Emely grew up with her grandmother and currently has two young children. She aspires to be an epitome of what a leader is and set the example that wherever you go, your circumstances do not define you, but how they use their resources around them to achieve success. She enjoys speding time with her family and getting together with friends.
Emely is very excited and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with a team united by the common goal of helping children succeed.

Kayla Irizarry is UPrep's 5th grade English Teacher. She graduated from CUNY Hunter College with a degree in English Adolescents Education. Before joining the UPrep family, she was working with middle school students for several years in after school and summer camp programs. Kayla has always found teaching as her passion and strongly believes that education is important for all people.
Kayla was raised in the local community of the South Bronx and has a personal understanding and love for her home. Her interests include art viewing and making, poetry writing, spoken word performances, and trying new foods.
Leeney Mendez, Grade 6 English Teacher

Leeney Mendez is UPrep's 6th grade English Teacher. She graduated UPrep High in 2018 where she won some sports championships. She began working with UPrep as an intern in 2019 and developed her passion for teaching.
Teaching has been Leeney’s way of giving back to her community. She provides students with the tools they need to succeed like her teachers did for her.
Besides loving to teach, Leeney also loves to write poetry. She’s done some performances and has been writing poems since she was in sixth grade. Anytime she has free time she’ll write or read sonnets by Shakespeare or poems by Sylvia Plath.
When her hands get tired and needs a break from reading, her favorite show to watch is The Office, seasons 1-7.

Michael Rivera, Grade 7 English Teacher

Michael Rivera is UPrep's 7thgrade English Teacher. He is a passionate educator, writer, and philosopher with a deep commitment to serving those from his native Jackson Avenue in the South Bronx. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology and Philosophy from New York University. Prior to joining U Prep, Michael taught Early Childhood and Middle School programs at the nearby non-profit Hunts Point Alliance for Children. He later taught English as a New Language (ENL) at two middle schools in the suburbs of Lyon, France as a Fulbright grantee. Michael draws on his diverse educational, personal, and professional experiences to inform his approach to education.
Outside of the classroom, Michael keeps up with his many passions, which include skateboarding, guitar playing, rock climbing, drawing, reading, and working on his first book.
Spencer Davis, Grade 8 English Teacher

Spencer Davis is UPrep's 8th grade English Teacher.
Prior to UPrep, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tougaloo College and had a number of professional experiences as a copywriter, bookseller, and, most recently, a fifth grade English teacher in his home state of Mississippi. His interests in graduate studies in education and the performing arts brought him to New York City in 2021.
Outside of school, Spencer fuels his passions by reading nonfiction books that help expand his knowledge of the world, trying his hand at recipes from his absurd collection of underused cookbooks, attending (or acting in) live plays, and traveling.

Stephanie is a proud Bronx native born and raised. She attended Long Island University Post for her undergraduate degree in Childhood Education, and The City College of New York for her Masters in Special Education. During her undergraduate studies, Stephanie studied abroad in London, United Kingdom at Regents University. She excelled in courses such as European Economics, Sociology and Gender Roles. She has 6 years of experience teaching in the NYC school system, and she is also bilingual in Spanish & English.
Stephanie is passionate about helping children reach their full potential. Stephanie prides herself on being patient and nurturing and enjoys the respectful rapport she has with her students and their families. She believes all children can succeed if provided love, support, and patience. Her goal is to help set a path for her students to grow academically and gain confidence in themselves as lifelong learners. She builds bonds to cultivate student success.
Stephanie takes pride in her heritage and the resilience that was instilled in her from her Dominican born parents. Outside of school Stephanie is a mom to a beautiful son named Elias. She enjoys spending time with her loved ones and traveling to different countries to enhance her palate and continue building cultural awareness.

Genesis Fonseca is UPrep’s 7th & 8th grade English Learning Specialist. She was born & raised in Astoria, Queens and received her Bachelor’s in TESOL K-12 from Queens College. She found her passion in teaching diverse learners, and decided to pursue her Master’s in Adolescent Special Education with a Minor in Psychology from Hunter College She was a Founding UPrep Middle School Teacher & hopes to encourage students to embrace their differences and support them to reach their goals. Aside from teaching, she is also the Peer Group Connection (PGC) Faculty Advisor and runs the Yearbook Committee.

Wayne is UPrep's 5th grade History Teacher. Wayne comes to New York from Texas, where he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in both education and history. Experienced in teaching academic, ESL, and Advanced Placement world history as well as ethics and philosophy, Wayne is also a College Board grader for the AP world history exam.
Wayne is a dedicated and passionate educator who prides himself on building strong and lasting relationships with the students he teaches. Having taught students from all over the world during his career, he loves diversity of culture and thinking in the classroom. Wayne is always excited about helping students find their voice and encourages discussion and critical thinking.
Outside of school, Wayne enjoys traveling with his wife, playing guitar, designing tabletop role playing games, and trying to understand T.S. Eliot.

Loren Gonzalez is UPrep’s 6th grade History Teacher. Ms. Gonzalez is a native New Yorker, with parents who emigrated from the Dominican Republic. She holds a BA in Political Science, MAT in Middle School Education/Social Studies and MA in History. As a Founding Teacher at UPrep Middle and an advisor for the Student Government Organization she previusly had a career in banking along with several years in education working with high school students. She is mother of two daughters, loves to read, travel and of course, loves history!
Ethan Reczka, Grade 7 History Teacher

Ethan Reczka is UPrep's 7th grade History Teacher. He is an alumnus of the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Temple University where he earned a Master’s in Education. While in college, Ethan volunteered in schools working with refugees and ELLs, researching various historical topics, and studied abroad in Montepulciano, Italy. He was a member of multiple honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. Ethan knew he would teach social studies since high school and dreamed of joining Teach For America.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Ethan loves to cook, bake, and consume food. In his free time, he runs marathons, hikes, watches sports, and travels. He loves to share his passion for history with all students.
Marcus Solomon, Grade 8 History Teacher

Marcus was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, always had a passion for exploring new places and meeting new people. This interest led him to attend Grambling State University where he obtained bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications. While at Grambling State, he also served in many different roles ranging from Mr. AKA to Student Body President. After graduation, he moved to Atlanta, GA where he worked for the Boy Scouts of America, before realizing he wanted to transition back into education. His desire to get back into education, led him to move to New Jersey where he taught 7th and 8th grade before moving to the Big Apple.
Outside of school, Marcus enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures and spending time with family and friends.

Victoria is UPrep's History Leaning Specialist for the 5th & 7th grade. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Victoria is a University of Miami Law School alumni and a Teach for America 2021 Corps Member with a passion for History. Before joining UPrep as an educator, Victoria worked as a public policy analyst in Caracas, where she found her purpose in public service. After finishing her graduate studies in Political Science, she decided to pursue her passion for History as well as her desire to be an agent for change, and decided to become a teacher.
Outside of the classroom, Victoria enjoys training CrossFit, reading books in the park and exploring new places in the city.

Diana Molina is UPrep's 6th & 8th Grade History Learning Specialist. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Diana is a Universidad Central de Venezuela and Politécnico di Torino alumni with degrees in Architecture and Photography.
Before joining UPrep, Diana Worked as an English teacher and capoeira instructor, and feels very passionate about supporting children through their learning journey. Outside of the classroom, she finds joy pursuing some of her passions in horticulture, martial arts, creating art and traditional Venezuelan drums.

Julia King is UPrep's 5th grade Science Teacher. She completed her undergraduate education at Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Politics and a certificate in Global Health and Health Policy. During her time at Princeton, Julia devoted herself to mentorship and education through her work at the Writing Center, helping younger students improve their written work and self-confidence in all different fields. She is pursuing a masters degree in education as a Teach for America corps member.
Julia loves to learn and is excited to continue doing so in the classroom at UPrep. As a North Carolina native, she is a big Duke sports fan and also enjoys coffee, long walks, and cooking shows.
Giselle Gonzalez, Grade 6 Science Teacher

Giselle Gonzalez is UPrep's 6th grade Science Teacher. Giselle is an alumna of The City College of New York (CCNY), where she earned her B.S. in Psychology, B.S.Ed. in Bilingual Childhood Education, M.S. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and minor in Studio Art. During her time at CCNY, Giselle served as an Undergraduate Researcher, Tutor, Peer Mentor, and Admissions Ambassador/Tour Guide. At CCNY, she conducted research in psychology and cell biology for several years. Giselle has also instructed & tutored students in elementary education, SAT prep, and TASC/GED prep at several schools in New York City for seven years. As a first-generation college graduate, Giselle is deeply committed to educational equity and social justice for all students. She believes that students from all backgrounds should be encouraged to pursue any career, including STEAM careers. In December 2021, Giselle published her first science children’s book which features children of diverse backgrounds explaining a science topic to encourage early readers to have a love for science. Giselle strongly believes in the importance of building consistent, nurturing, & respectful rapport with her students and families.
Giselle is a proud Bronx native and is the daughter of parents from Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. She is also bilingual in Spanish & English. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, watching cooking shows, baking, visiting new restaurants, listening to music, crocheting, and creating art/crafts.

Dalton Dupree is UPrep's 7th grade Science Teacher. He has been a middle and high school educator for serveral years. He enjoys providing students with the skills to thrive in and out of the classroom. Science is the best way to connect students with the natural world through their day to day experiences.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Policy Studies/Sociology with a minor in African American studies from Syracuse University. He also earned a Master’s degree in Teaching from Relay Graduate School.
He was born and raised in New Jersey & resides in Harlem. Outside of school, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling and watching horror movies.
Chelsea Rivera, Grade 8 Science Teacher

Chelsea Rivera is UPrep's 8th grade Science Teacher. Chelsea is a South Bronx native, raised between New York and Florida. This experience has allowed her to witness firsthand the diversity of communities as well as the disparities in the United States.
She attended the State University of New York at Potsdam earning an undergraduate degree in Biology. During her time at SUNY Potsdam she studied conservation and sustainability. Chelsea volunteered at the WISER Center growing microgreens, and advocating for sustainability. Chelsea also acted as the historian for the Bridging Cultures project, a collaboration between SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University, working to create a Mural that encompassed themes of music, immigration, indigenous rights, women’s rights, nature, as well as the importance of human rights across the Americas.
Chelsea started her career in education as a teacher's assistant for New York City’s Universal Pre-K Program & then went on to teach middle school Science and Social Studies. Chelsea is ecstatic to be part of the UPrep family, inspiring and providing support to students as they pursue their goals. She hopes to inspire young women to pursue careers in S.T.E.A.M.
Outside of school ou can find Chelsea hiking through the woods, or long-boarding on sidewalks. If she’s not outdoors you’ll find her partaking in her favorite indoor pastime gaming. She most likely is completing side quests instead of saving the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Aislinn Menke, Grade 5 & 6 Science Learning Specialist

Ms. Menke is UPrep's Science Leanring Specialist for the 5th & 6th grade. She is originally from Kansas City, Kansas (Go Chiefs!) and is an alumna of the University of Arizona where she earned her B.A. in Psychology, and triple minored in Religion, Honors Health & Human Values, and Spanish. She is working towards her Masters in Childhood Education Grades 1 through 6 at Hunter College.
Ms. Menke is passionate about helping underserved and marginalized communities, and she spent a majority of her time in high school and college working with children from low-income areas in the medical and behavioral health fields. Ms. Menke is fully committed to addressing the educational disparities faced by many students in the Bronx, and excited to build relationships with students.
In her free time, Ms. Menke loves to do art, listen to music, exercise, cook/bake, go on long walks through Central Park, and hang out with her friends.

Saundra Salkey is UPrep's 7th & 8th grade Science Learning Specialist. Born, raised, and educated in the Bronx, Saundra completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mercy College. She holds a BS in Behavioral Science and MS in Childhood Education.
Driven by her passion and love for her community, she has enjoyed teaching and educating the children of the Bronx for over a decade. She approaches everyday with the mindset of, “All children deserve a quality education and for their teachers to truly care and invest in them.”
Outside of school Saundra is a wife, and mother to her little princess. In her free time she is often baking, laughing with loved ones, reading and being a health and fitness enthusiast.

Salema Jackson, Chess Teacher
Chess Teacher
Salema Jackson is UPrep's Chess Teacher. She graduated from Pillar College with a degree in Psychology and Counseling & is obtaining a Counseling MA degree from the same institution. Before joining the UPrep family, Salema was the founding chess teacher at Zeta charter school in NYC for three years. Prior to this, she taught chess at Success Academy Charter school for four years. In 2016, she earned the FIDE title of National Instructor from the United States Chess Federation.
She was born in New Jersey and raised in Miami, Florida, where she developed a competitive spirit and her love for chess. Salema is married and has two older children Janaeya and Donald, both of whom also are active chess players, although not competitively anymore. Her husband is also an avid chess player and chess instructor in the city.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys long walks in the park, reading, watching Anime and horrible B movies, aka, all the sharknados, and any film with bad plotlines and even worse actors.

Jenny Jeong is UPrep’s Visual Arts teacher. Originally from South Korea, her journey brought her to New York in 2010 where she pursued her education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Art History from Pratt Institute, and Master of FIne Arts in Visual Arts Education at Hunter College. She loves painting, cooking, savoring delicious cuisines, watching K-dramas, and indulging in water sports.

Jamaal James is UPrep's Physical Education & Health Teacher. Born and raised in Portland, Jamaica, Jamaal moved to the states at 10 years old with his family to strive for a better future. Jamaal has been teaching for several years in the Physical Education field, previously working at South Bronx Classical Charter Schools while also coaching basketball at various after school programs.
Jamaal completed his undergraduate degree from Pace University in Sports Marketing. He is obtaining is Masters degree in Physical Education from Brooklyn College.
Jamaal really takes pride in his heritage and his foundation that was instilled in him from a young boy growing up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood of Portland Jamaica. Outside of school, Jamaal really enjoys spending time with his family and friends and taking long walks with my dog Willow. He also loves to travel to new places to experience different cultures and various heritages.
Abdul Sulaiman, Physical Education & Health Teacher

Abdul Sulaiman us UPrep's Physical Education & Health Teacher. Born and raised in the Bronx, Abdul has zealous ideas on serving his community! Abdul has senior experience in Physical Education, previously working for blue ribbon schools like Classical Charter Schools & Success Academy, and teaching at Equinox Sports Club.
Abdul completed his undergraduate degree in Humanities at Dominican College. Abdul continued his education shortly after, receiving a Masters In Business Administration from Mercy College and a Masters of Science In Education from Dominican College.
Outside of school, Abdul plays and teaches chess, basketball, and powerlifts at the gym.
Abdul has an unwavering passion to empower people and has always been one to share his time, knowledge, and skill set. For many years, he has mentored kids varying in age, gender and nationality. He has also volunteered in community centers, state parks, and numerous health organizations to motivate and inspire youth.

Kaitlin Gallo, ENL (English as a New Language) Teacher
ENL (English as a New Language) Teacher
Kaitlin Gallo is UPrep's ENL Teacher. She graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2014 with her undergraduate degree in TESOL. Then she graduated from NorthCentral University in 2017 with her Master’s in Special Education. Kaitlin has many years of teaching teaching experience collectively with both ENL and Special Education.
She has had quite the experience internationally as a teacher. Kaitlin taught in Beijing, China for 3 years to students ages 4-12. While there she enjoyed learning the culture, language, food and history. This experience gave her the ability to be an ENL student herself which helped her gain more understanding of what her students' needs would be.
When Kaitlin is not in the classroom she loves traveling to new places, spending time with her family and friends, and trying new places to eat. She raves about being an amateur chef and is happy that people enjoy the food she cooks, most of the time! She loves working with students and their families.

Ms. H is UPrep’s Special Education Coordinator for Grades 5-12. She grew up in Portland, Oregon and at the age of 23 earned her Master’s degree in Special Education at Portland State University. After grad school she moved cross country to New York City to begin her teaching career. With almost two decades of experience in education, Ms. H spends her days mentoring Special Education Teachers making sure all students are receiving the best specifically designed instruction, and services needed for them to be successful learners. She believes any student can learn and grow regardless of their previous educational experiences and helping children believe in themselves is her greatest passion. Ms. H is the Middle School Cheer co-coach, UPrep High’s softball coach, loves the outdoors, kayaking, camping, hiking and spending time with her three nephews!
Stephanie Neto, Speech-Language Pathologist Grades 5-12
Speech-Language Pathologist (UPrep Middle & High)
Stephanie is UPrep's Speech-Language Pathologist for Grades 5-12. She previously worked in a clinic, providing therapy to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She also provided therapy for adults on the Autism Spectrum Disorder, through ACCES-VR, to prepare them for life after high school. Through that experience Stephanie found her passion for working with young adults and helping them reach their goals. She loves working with UPrep's students helping them reach their fullest potential.
Stephanie received her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Molloy College. She is a first generation American, whose parents immigrated to the United States from Italy and Portugal. In her free time, she enjoys working out, sampling foods from different countries, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Shannon Ortega is UPrep's 5th grade (UPrep High Class of 2032) Professional School Counselor. She is a proud UPrep High alumna who actually wrote her college essay about returning to the Bronx after college to support students. Shannon first joined the UPrep family in 2020-2021 as a School Counselor intern, where she supported students during the unique challenges of an all-Zoom year. Shannon then spent three years at Preston High School in the Bronx as a Professional School Counselor and Student Service Coordinator.
Shannon is a South Bronx native and first-generation student who earned her Bachelor's in Clinical and Childhood Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Alfred University through the HEOP (Higher Education Opportunity Program). She furthered her education with a Master's in K-12 School Counseling from Alfred University, where she is also an active member of the Counseling Honors Society, Chi Sigma Iota, and the Women's Leadership Academy. During her time at Alfred University she Co-founded Sister Circle.
Shannon believes that her role extends beyond counseling to being a collaborator, advocate, educational leader, and agent of change. She is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where every student feels safe, seen, loved, respected, and valued. Shannon is committed to trauma-informed practices and creating a supportive space for all students.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys traveling, visiting art galleries, reading poetry, painting, cooking, and exploring new DIY projects. She is thrilled to connect with her Gator roots and support students on their educational journey.

Marie Feltio is UPrep's Professional School Counselor for the 6th grade (UPrep High Class of 2031). Marie worked 15+ years in an array of human services leadership roles in both the private and public sectors such as for Youth and Arts nonprofits, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and for the a decade at the New York City Department of Education. A native New Yorker and product of the New York City public school system, the focal point of Marie’s work has been to advocate and support the overall needs of marginalized and disenfranchised youth across New York City. Marie’s most recent role included developing and creating the first ever Department of Youth and Community Development One Campus Middle School Model in the South Bronx. Marie enjoys reading, sports (Bengals #WHODEY), exercising, cooking, music, dance, and spending time with her two amazing daughters. Marie holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Fordham University and is a practicing pre-licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with an emphasis on Child and Adolescent Development) from The Family Institute at Northwestern University.

Lana Pandza was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and immigrated to the Czech Republic at the start of the Civil War in Bosnia in 1992, where she lived for most of her elementary years. At the age of 12, she moved to the United States (New Jersey) for better opportunities.
Lana has always had a passion for people and deep human connections, as well as learning more about individual development and various dynamics within our society. She attended Pace University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and went on to earn her Master’s of Science in School Counseling at Fordham University. She continued her post-graduate education at Montclair State University toward her Mental Health license. Prior to working at UPrep, Lana has worked as a high school counselor in Paterson, NJ and New Visions Charter High School for Advanced Math and Science in the Bronx, where she co-founded and facilitated a young woman’s program, L.O.V.E.D. (Living Our Vision Every Day).
Lana truly enjoys working with young people and collaborating with them on their journey. Also, traveling, exploring new places and experiencing various cultures is what she continues to find most rewarding.

Tim Murdock is the 8th grade (UPrep High Class of 2029) Professional School Counselor.
A native New Yorker, Tim is a product of the New York City school system. Prior to joining the UPrep family, Tim spent time working at various CBOs in the Out of School time space across New York City. Tim earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master of Science in Education with a focus in Counselor Education from Lehman College. He attended Alfred University ontaining a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mental Health leading to pre-licensure in Mental Health Counseling.
Tim enjoys reading, gaming and martial arts. Most of his time is spent with his daughter, Luna.

Jamahl is UPrep’s DIrector of Operations. He received his HS in Computer Science and has worked in tech and operations for over a decade. He has two children and loves when students can see themselves in him. He enjoys coaching football and is a Baltimore Ravens fan. In his free time he also enjoys reading books.

Alex Polanco is UPrep’s Operations Lead with over 10 years experience in Operations. Born and raised in Inwood/Washington Heights, he attended The City College of New York where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Prior to joining the University Prep family, Alex has worked Operations at other charter schools, and in the Spitzer School of Architecture at City College. He coaches the UPep Girls Basketball Team, leading them to their first ever Bronx Charter School Championship. During his free time he enjoys theatre, video production, and playing dominoes with family.

Alanzo Phillips has been part of UPrep Middle school family as an Operations Associate since the school's inception. Prior to joining UPrep, he was an Operations Intern at Success Academy. Mr Phillips is the positive heartbeat of the school as he truly loves each and every staff member and every student that comes through the door. A larger than life figure, he loves acting, dancing, watching basketball and football as well as connecting with others through storytelling via original videos created on social media.

Geraldine Galdamez, known as Ms. G, is a UPrep Operations Assocaite. She is known as the "school mom" beacuse she treats all of the students as if they were her own children. UPrep is close to her heart as her daughter graduated from UP Middle and attends UPrep High, and her siblings graduated from UPrep High. She has worked in a school environement for almost a decade first as an Administrative Assistant at St. Luke School which closed August 2020 due to the pandemic before joining the UPrep family.
Geraldine was born and raised in The Bronx. Her parents are from Puerto Rico and Guatemala. She is billingual in English and Spanish. She graduated from Lehman College obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology with a minor in Early Childhood Education.
Geraldine loves to interact with students and their families. She has always had a passion for working in a school environment. Geraldine lives with her husband and two children. During her free time, Geraldine loves to read, bake, and spend time with her family.

Elizabeth Liriano, known as Ms. Elizabeth, is one of UPrep’s Operations Associates. She is a proud mother of two children who constantly encourages them to follow their dreams and never give up. She has over 5 years experience working with children in a school setting, specifically operations, ensuring all their needs are met. Ms. Elizabeth will ensure all medical records are up to date and that snack is delivered every day! In her free time she loves to dance, do her nails and hair in addition to cooking her children’s favorite meals while eating with them.
Terrance Bouie, Operations Associate

Terrance Bouie is one of UPrep's Operations Associates. He hails from Rochester NY and comes from a hybrid professional background that consists of a leadership role in sales, as well as a background in youth development and counseling. Ultimately it is the fulfillment he receives from providing guidance and making a difference that lead to a permanent career pivot for the ladder.
Mr. Bouie spent three years as a unit supervisor at a residential center for troubled youth. It was during that time he discovered a natural talent for building rapport and connecting to young people. In his experience he’s encountered a vast range of varying personalities, cultures, and skill levels. His personal background coupled with the exposure he’s received from working in residential has not only broadened his resume but has increased his capacity as an overall human being.
Terrance seeks to inspire students by continuing his own educational journey. In being transparent, sharing his own experiences and giving students a purview into real life beyond “the now”. He inspires those around him to be more proactive in their own lives and make positive choices.

Anjelica Cruz is one of UPrep's Operation Associate Associates. Prior to joining UPrep, Anjelica was a Teaching Artist for LEAP (Learning Through the Expanded Arts Program) where she used multiple disciplines of Fine Arts to empower students to express themselves and advocate for social justice. Before teaching art at LEAP, Anjelica served students of District 4 at East Harlem Tutorial Program as an Assistant Teacher. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in 2008 with a Associates Degree in Applied Science for Digital Media Communications and aims to complete her Bachelor’s in Studio Art at Hunter College. Anjelica has been an avid lover of the Arts since she could learn how to hold a pencil. Her passion for youth development first sparked during her teen years in the Children’s Ministry of her local church (which she is still involved with till this day). In a society where young people are bombarded with so much negativity, it’s important for them to know that they are respected, loved, and that there is someone in their corner who cares for them without reservation. A NuyoRican from the Bronx, faith and family are her core values; everything she does is motivated by them. In her down time Anjelica enjoys reading manga/webtoons, trying different foods, casual gaming, the pleasing aesthetic of a color coordinated outfit, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Student Recruitment Officer
Scott Hausthor is UPrep's Student Recruitment Officer. A Queens native, Scott holds a BS in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland. After a brief stint in the hospitality industry, he followed his passion for sports, working in the tennis and non-profit sectors for over 14 years. At the United States Tennis Association, he had the opportunity to support the nation’s top athletes and their performance teams. Afterwards, Scott worked for New York Junior Tennis & Learning, an organization founded by Arhtur Ashe, overseeing the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning located in Crotona Park, Bronx. In this role, he managed all operations, including community initiatives, recruitment, and engagement efforts, primarily focused on serving underserved and at-risk youth in the South Bronx. Scott collaborated closely with community advocates, Bronx-based schools, school districts, social service agencies, and government institutions to improve access to tennis, academic enrichment, test prep, and social-emotional learning. It was through this work that Scott found his passion to be a catalyst for positive change in the lives of young people through education and sport.
With a growth mindset, Scott is committed to enhancing University Prep's brand awareness while ensuring that all families understand how University Prep offers a holistic educational journey, empowering each student to reach their full potential. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, jogging, playing tennis & pickleball, and trying all kinds of desserts.
